Submit a Privacy Impact Assessment to the OPC

Use the Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) online submission form to send your approved PIA and related documents to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC).

Federal public sector institutions must submit all approved PIAs to the OPC, as required by section 6.3.15 of the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s (TBS) Directive on Privacy Impact Assessment.

Need to send a PIA to TBS?

The OPC’s online submission form is for sending PIAs to the OPC only. You can send PIAs to TBS’s Privacy and Responsible Data Division via email at ippd-dpiprp@tbs-sct.gc.ca or by mail to:

Submit a PIA

To access the OPC’s secure online PIA submission form, select the Request a link option. Submitting a PIA via the OPC’s online form takes between 10-15 minutes.

Documents above Protected B

The OPC’s online PIA submission form only accepts documents up to and including those designated Protected B. If you need to send documents above Protected B, contact the OPC by email at SCG-GA@priv.gc.ca.

Submit additional documents to the OPC for an existing PIA or addendum

Select the Submit additional documents option to submit documents (up to Protected B) associated with a previously submitted PIA or addendum for which you have a PIA submission reference number (for example, XHID2RRQR9U5).

If you have additional documents to submit but no PIA submission reference number, please submit them to the OPC at SCG-GA@priv.gc.ca.

To submit documents above Protected A via email, please communicate with the OPC in advance at SCG-GA@priv.gc.ca.

Need to send non-PIA documents to the OPC?

This online submission form is for PIAs and PIA updates/addenda only. Submit privacy protocols, other non-PIA privacy assessments, draft information sharing agreements, and internal policies to the OPC by email at SCG-GA@priv.gc.ca or by mail to:
