Privacy Commissioner appears before Senate committee to offer comment on Bill C-11

Privacy Commissioner Philippe Dufresne appeared before the Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications today to assist the committee in its study of Bill C-11, An Act to amend the Broadcasting Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts (Online Streaming Act).  

Commissioner Dufresne’s remarks addressed how the bill deals with online undertakings, which has raised privacy concerns for some stakeholders. He also offered suggestions to the Committee to improve certain privacy provisions in the Broadcasting Act generally. The Commissioner was joined by Brent Homan, Deputy Commissioner, Compliance.
