OPC posts new summaries of cases involving businesses
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC), today posted new summaries about cases involving businesses, examined by the OPC in accordance with, and to promote compliance with, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
- Early resolved case summary #2017-002: Access to personal information held by insurance company facilitated through the early resolution process
- Settled case summary #2016-001: Complaint about access request settled as audio recordings were deleted in accordance with retention policy
- Early resolved case summary #2015-06: Manager snoops on employee’s personal bank account after employee calls in sick
- Discontinued Case Summary #2015-002: OPC discontinues additional complaints against Globe24h.com following investigation into same privacy issues
The OPC regularly publishes case summaries on its Investigations into businesses page to provide concrete examples of how PIPEDA applies to the day-to-day management of personal information by businesses.
