Privacy Commissioner of Canada signs information-sharing agreements with Nigeria and Brazil

Privacy Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with data protection authorities from Nigeria and Brazil to facilitate information sharing and enforcement collaboration.
The MOU with the National Commissioner of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission provides a framework to allow communication and cooperation about matters arising under PIPEDA and the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
The MOU with Brazil’s data protection authority, the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados, will facilitate information sharing and collaboration on matters arising under PIPEDA and the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados Pessoais).
