Annual meeting of federal, provincial, and territorial information and privacy commissioners and ombuds

October 10, 2024 - Toronto, Ontario

Federal, provincial, and territorial (FPT) information and privacy commissioners and ombuds today concluded two days of productive discussions on Canadian privacy and access to information issues.

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada attended this annual event, which was hosted this year by the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario. The FPT annual meeting provides an opportunity to address key issues, enhance collaboration among jurisdictions, and reaffirm a shared commitment to protecting the access and privacy rights of all Canadians.

The meeting brought together academics, legal experts, and a panel of teens and young adults to engage commissioners and ombuds on various topics, including AI modernization and freedom of information, constitutional and administrative law, neurotechnology, Indigenous concepts of privacy, youth privacy, and legislative modernization.
