Privacy Commissioner appears before Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security on Bill S-210

The Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Philippe Dufresne, appeared before the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security (SECU) on its study of Bill S-210, An Act to restrict young persons’ online access to sexually explicit material.

In his remarks, Commissioner Dufresne provided recommendations for helping to ensure that age-verification methods protect individuals’ fundamental right to privacy.

The Commissioner was joined by Lara Ives, Executive Director, Policy, Research and Parliamentary Affairs Directorate.
