Privacy Commissioner extends deadline on biometrics guidance consultation

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) has extended the deadline for comments on its draft biometrics guidance to February 16, 2024.

The OPC announced the consultation on two draft guidance documents – one of which addresses risks under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), while the other pertains to the Privacy Act, which governs how federal institutions handle personal information – in October.
