Privacy Tech-Know blog: Computing while blindfolded — Lifting the veil on homomorphic encryption
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada has published a new Tech-Know blog post which continues our series on privacy-enhancing technologies. In a previous post, we discussed differential privacy and federated learning. In another, we analyzed the pros and cons of synthetic data. Here, we turn to a new topic: homomorphic encryption – a special form of encryption whose structure enables mathematical operations to be performed directly on encrypted data or “ciphertext,” without the need for prior decryption.
