Commissioner Dufresne delivers remarks at the Venice Privacy Symposium 2023

Privacy Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne attended the Venice Privacy Symposium 2023, and participated in a number of events, including in a panel discussion on Convention 108+ Opportunity and Paradigm Shift.

In his remarks, Commissioner Dufresne discussed the work of the Global Privacy Assembly’s Working Group on Data Protection and Other Rights and Freedoms, which his Office chairs. He noted that the crux of the group’s work centres on the recognition that privacy and data protection are fundamental rights, and that respecting privacy rights is essential to our dignity and to the enjoyment of other fundamental freedoms.
