Prime Minister announces nomination of next Privacy Commissioner

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today announced the nomination of Philippe Dufresne as the next Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Mr. Dufresne is currently the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel for the House of Commons.

As set out in the Privacy Act, the appointment must be approved by resolution of the Senate and House of Commons. Caroline Maynard will remain as Interim Commissioner until that process is complete.
