Commissioner’s appearance before parliamentary committee to discuss his reappointment

Privacy Commissioner of Canada Daniel Therrien appeared before the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics on June 21^st as committee members met to consider the certificate of nomination for his reappointment as Commissioner.

The Commissioner made a short opening statement and then responded to questions from committee members. The committee endorsed Commissioner Therrien’s reappointment.

Commissioner Therrien was first appointed in 2014 to a seven-year mandate. In June, the Prime Minister announced his reappointment for a one-year term.
