Commissioner’s appearance before parliamentary committee to discuss his reappointment

Privacy Commissioner of Canada Daniel Therrien appeared before the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics on June 21st as committee members met to consider the certificate of nomination for his reappointment as Commissioner.

The Commissioner made a short opening statement and then responded to questions from committee members. The committee endorsed Commissioner Therrien’s reappointment.

Commissioner Therrien was first appointed in 2014 to a seven-year mandate. In June, the Prime Minister announced his reappointment for a one-year term.
