Social Media Day: Don’t play games with your privacy

OPC messages gamers and social media users

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada is launching new videos and infographics to inform gamers and social media users on how to protect their privacy online.

Canadians are spending more time at home these days playing online games and posting messages on social media to help keep in touch with family and friends.

The gaming video and infographic provide information about the potential privacy risks when playing games and tips on how to safeguard your privacy when creating your online gaming profiles.

The social media video and infographic offer advice on how to choose passwords, as well as how to avoid fraud, theft and scams.

Social Media Day was originally created in 2010 by the private sector as an informal way to recognize and celebrate social media’s impact on global communication.
