Video introduction to PIPEDA for your business

New videos help businesses understand their privacy obligations

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada has created a new series of videos to help businesses looking to better comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada’s federal private sector privacy law.

The introduction to PIPEDA for your business videos include:

• What is PIPEDA and does it apply to my business?
• What is personal information?
• What kinds of concerns do people have about privacy?
• What are my business’s responsibilities under PIPEDA?
• What if there’s a privacy breach?

In this digital world where personal information can be collected, used and shared with ease, Canadians are becoming increasingly concerned about their privacy. And more and more, they are choosing to do business with organizations that are sensitive to those concerns and that can demonstrate they will handle personal information with the appropriate level of care.

The OPC has developed a number of other guidance documents to help businesses to meet their obligations under PIPEDA.
