Deputy Commissioner Smolynec shares OPC's views on cybersecurity in the financial sector

Today, the Deputy Commissioner of Policy and Promotion of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Gregory Smolynec, appeared before the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security (SECU) on Cybersecurity in the Financial Sector as a National Economic Security Issue.

In his remarks, he voiced his concerns that banks and other financial institutions must have robust standards for both cybersecurity and privacy.
