Tabling of the Privacy Commissioner’s annual report

OTTAWA – The Privacy Commissioner of Canada’s latest annual report is expected to be tabled in Parliament on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at approximately 10 a.m. ET.

The report outlines the Commissioner’s concerns regarding a lack of progress on urgently needed reforms of Canada’s outdated privacy laws.

It also highlights the office’s work on key issues, including investigations, under both the Privacy Act and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the federal private sector privacy law.

Privacy Commissioner Daniel Therrien will hold a news conference to discuss his annual report. Journalists outside of Ottawa may participate via teleconference.

Where: National Press Theatre, 150 Wellington Street, Ottawa

Note: Immediately after the tabling, the annual report will be available on the Privacy Commissioner’s website at www.priv.gc.ca. Due to reductions in print production, paper copies will not be available at the news conference.
