Commissioner shares his views on the collection of financial information by Statistics Canada

Today, Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Daniel Therrien, appeared before the Standing Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce on the collection of financial information by Statistics Canada.

In his remarks, he mentions that he has received multiple individual complaints on this matter and has opened an investigation. He also provided his views on the need to modernize our privacy laws in both the private and public sectors.
