Commissioner calls for greater privacy protections to promote trust in the democratic process

Today, Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Daniel Therrien, appeared before the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs to share his views for the study of Bill C-76, the Elections Modernization Act.

In his remarks, he discussed the privacy implications of Bill C-76 and recommended that legislators improve the standards in the bill for regulating the collection, use and safeguarding of personal information by political parties.
