Protection of Private Data: Presentation before the Senate Open Caucus

Today, Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Daniel Therrien, presented before the Senate Open Caucus to share his views on the protection of personal information.

In his remarks, he discussed the need for federal political parties to be governed by privacy laws and why Bill C-76 is deficient in that regard. He also discussed what type of legislation is needed to ensure Canadians can enjoy the many benefits of the digital economy without fear that their rights will be violated and their personal information will be used against them.
