Privacy missing from financial technology sections of budget bill, Commissioner tells Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce

Today, Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Daniel Therrien, appeared before the Standing Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce on Division 16 of Part 6 of Bill C-74, the Budget Implementation Act, 2018, No.1.

In his remarks, he provided his views on the privacy implications of the amendments proposed in Division 16 of C-74, which remove current impediments in the law in order to facilitate business relationships and engagement between federally regulated financial institutions and financial technology organizations.
