Privacy Commissioner appears before parliamentary committee to discuss breach of personal information involving Cambridge Analytica and Facebook

The Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Daniel Therrien, appeared today before the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics (ETHI) to discuss privacy implications of online platforms and appropriate legislative responses to the concerns of citizens about how their personal information is being used.

In his statement he highlighted the urgent need for action and noted that the integrity of our democratic processes—as well as trust in our digital economy—are facing significant risks.
