Deadline extended for feedback on Draft Online Reputation Position Paper

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada will now be accepting comments on its draft Position Paper on Online Reputation until Friday, April 27, 2018.

The draft paper, which was released on January 26, 2018, highlights existing protections in Canada’s federal private sector privacy law, identifies potential legislative changes and proposes other solutions for consideration.

These measures include the right to ask search engines to de-index web pages that contain inaccurate, incomplete or outdated information; removal or amendment of information at the source; and education to help develop responsible, informed online citizens.

The Office has  discussed the paper with provincial colleagues and will continue to work with them. In the meantime, we are inviting feedback before finalizing the paper.

For more information, as well as criteria and procedures, please see our Notice of Consultation and Call for Comments on Draft Online Reputation Position Paper.
