Privacy Commissioner publishes focus group report on consent

Today, the Privacy Commissioner of Canada published a report on qualitative public opinion research conducted with Canadians on the issue of consent under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. The purpose of this research was to better understand Canadians’ opinions, attitudes and concerns with respect to consent, to explore their concerns, actions and thinking, and gauge their response to possible solutions.

The Office conducted this research with Canadians as part of an extensive consultation process on the issue of consent, which also sought input from industry and privacy experts. The Office’s complete report on the issue of consent will be released in September 2017.
