Tabling of the Privacy Commissioner’s annual report

OTTAWA — The Privacy Commissioner of Canada’s latest annual report is expected to be tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, September 27th, 2016 at approximately 10 a.m. ET.

The annual report includes the results of the first phase of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada’s ongoing review of the implement of information sharing powers created under Bill C-51, the Anti-terrorism Act, 2015 as well as a review of sharing of metadata by the Communications Security Establishment.

The 2015-16 annual report also highlights how the accelerating pace of technological change is having a profound impact on privacy protection and calls for greater action from regulators, legislators, the courts, business leaders and policymakers to protect Canadians in the 21st century.

Privacy Commissioner Daniel Therrien will hold a news conference to discuss the report.
