Summary
The project explores the nuanced implications of artificial intelligence facial recognition technology (FRT), focusing on racial and gender biases, as well as privacy concerns. Through a multifaceted approach that includes academic research, research dissemination, public engagement, and scholarly output, the project sought to enhance our collective understanding of the complex issues related to race, gender, and privacy in the development and deployment of AI-FRT in Canada. It also developed guidelines to address the impacts of these biases and privacy issues in both the private and public sectors. Significantly, this project contributes to the ongoing dialogue regarding the ethical use and regulation of FRT.
