Gender-based analysis plus

As a small organization, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) does not have a formal governance structure in place for the conduct of gender-based analysis plus (GBA+).
Human resources 0.25 FTE

The OPC does not have resources dedicated specifically to GBA+. The calculation of FTEs is based on the efforts dedicated to this initiative as an organization to meet certain requirements contained in the preparation of the Departmental Plan, Departmental Results Report, and Submissions to Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. In addition, the efforts required to participate in the GBA+ interdepartmental committee meetings were also taken into account in this calculation.
Major initiatives: results achieved As part of our 2018-19 Survey of Canadians on Privacy we conducted an analysis of the results taking into account various identity factors such as respondents' gender, age, level of education and place of residence.

This data will be useful to us in order to better understand the impact of privacy on these different groups in future initiatives of the OPC.
Reporting capacity and data As a small organization, the OPC's capacity to implement GBA+ is very limited and no framework is currently in place.

2018-19 Departmental Sustainable Development Strategy

1. Context for the Departmental Sustainable Development Strategy

The 2016–2019 Federal Sustainable Development Strategy (FSDS):

  • sets out the Government of Canada’s sustainable development priorities
  • establishes goals and targets
  • identifies actions to achieve them, as required by the Federal Sustainable Development Act

In keeping with the objectives of the act to make environmental decision-making more transparent and accountable to Parliament, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada supports reporting on the implementation of the FSDS and its Departmental Sustainable Development Strategy, or equivalent document, through the activities described in this supplementary information table.

3. Report on integrating sustainable development

During the 2018–19 reporting cycle, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada had no proposals that required a Strategic Environmental Assessment and no public statements were produced.
