Commissioner appears before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health (HESA)

Today, Privacy Commissioner Daniel Therrien and the Deputy Commissioner of Policy and Promotion of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Gregory Smolynec, appeared before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health (HESA) to share views related to the committee’s current study on the Emergency Situation Facing Canadians in Light of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In his remarks, the Commissioner explained how disclosures could be made under the Privacy Act, and recommended options for Parliamentary Committees to ensure their authority is exercised in ways that do not unduly invade on privacy.
