Privacy Commissioner launches investigation into Nissan breach

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) has opened an investigation into the data breach at Nissan Canada Finance.

Nissan has indicated that the exact number of people affected by the breach is not known, but that it was contacting more than 1.1 million current and past customers who financed their vehicles through Nissan Canada Finance and INFINITI Financial Services Canada.

Our understanding is that Nissan is offering affected individuals free credit monitoring. Further details are available on the Nissan website.

Nissan has set up a call centre to answer questions related to the breach: 1-877-224-4711.
